This piece was written to emphasize technique, timing accuracy and rhythmic control. It is written in 6/8, and the right hand must maintain accuracy over chords that are used throughout the piece. It is somewhat like a military voluntary reminiscent of the form of a post horn gallop, and, strangely, the whole piece is based around the use of just one chord. It is ideally suited to Stradella bass instruments. |
