The introduction of this cute little piece starts with a bass notes and chord sequence, for just two bars before the treble takes over with a playful melody that stays within a five-note treble range. There is much use of phrasing and staccato notes, and dynamics and expression play a large part in the overall feel and rhythmic flow. Just three major chords are used (hence the title). It is written in C major, in 4/4 time, and is ideally suited to Stradella bass instruments. |
