Notes from the Composer:
DW925 - Clairette:

Playing Standard: Grade 4
Playing Time (approximate): 2 min

Clairette is a Valse Musette, with both its introduction and main theme written in a minor key, and the intermediate sections in D major. Clairette is a type a grape, and the major key sections equal sunshine, with the minor sections interpreted as rain and the uncertainty of grape growth. Several bars contain right-hand triplets used to good effect in a typical musette, and test a player’s fingering and phrasing. The left hand consists of sustained principal notes to provide the rhythmic feel and continuance of the Valtz Musette, with the chord work not overly complicated, although it does necessitate moving the left hand up the keyboard, requiring control.
