Hot air balloons are graceful and very beautiful, especially as they rise and float in the stillness of an early morning mist. This work depicts the ascent, waltz-like floating along, and descent of a ride in a balloon. It is rooted on and remains in a closed hand position from “D” within a warm tonality of G Dorian, making it an accessible work for the beginning player. The piece is smooth, a bit mystical, and soothing—much like a balloon ride. |
