Notes from the Arranger:
cp704 Milonguero Moderna:

Inspired by the music of Astor Piazzolla, this piece conjures up the image of the tango genre popularised in the second half of the last century. A Milonguero is used to describe a style of tango dancing around the middle of the last century, so Milonguero Moderna has added modern influence and rhythms to it.

The free-bass accordion naturally portrays this idiom along with the rhythmic ostinatos provided by the strings. The rhythmic pulse varies with off-beat entries and accents, with the close harmonies helping to sharpen the accented chords, and the piece ends in a frenzied climax.
