OY573 Rondeau, Purcell:

An arrangement for accordion by Yehuda Oppenheimer of the Rondeau composed by Henry Purcell (1659-1695).

The Rondeau is the 2nd movement (of 10 movements) from the Abdelazer Suite. Purcell wrote incidental music (Z 570) for a revival in the Summer of 1695.

The rondeau was used by Benjamin Britten as the theme for his set of variations The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra (1946). It was also used as the theme of the television series The First Churchills (1969).
