 Description: |
Valentino's Tango! It's not jazz, tango and not even a play with music to comment. In opera singing, drama text completely steal the limelight from the music, hence the need to create a formula that would put the music in the foreground without losing the pathos of the story.
The formula adopted is "Jazz Concert with a text comment,". It is structured in five scenes, introduced by a text with improvised music in the background (IG in titles means "Guided Improvisations"), followed by the music itself.
For reprocessing of famous tangos, Renzo Ruggieri has followed a procedure unprecedented, freely improvising variations for each song; and at a later stage, he has selected and assembled the music, while maintaining the spirit extemporaneous of the first improvisation..
This project is the third book written by Ruggieri (after Opera? - Vap105, Canto Di Natale - non pubblicato) with the same structure. The texts come from a plot indicated by the author, which can be taken according to a written text, as in this case, or improvised by the actor on stage.
The CD tells the story of the Italian myth of Rodolfo Valentino and the tango (which defined the artistic profile of the actor) through improvisation (the distinctive element of the poetics of Ruggieri). The poems recited at the end of the lyrics are of Rudolph Valentino. |

Valentino e Tango! Non è jazz, non è tango e neanche un testo teatrale con musica a commento. Nella lirica il canto, nel teatro il testo rubano completamente la scena alla musica, da ciò l’esigenza di creare una formula che mettesse le note in primo piano senza perdere il pathos del racconto. La formula adottata, “Concerto jazz con testo a commento”, è strutturata in 5 scene, introdotte da un testo con musica improvvisata in sottofondo (IG nei titoli significa "Improvvisazioni Guidate"), cui segue il brano musicale vero e proprio.
Per la rielaborazione dei tanghi celebri, Renzo Ruggieri ha seguito una procedura inedita, improvvisando liberamente le variazioni per ogni singolo brano; in una fase successiva ha selezionato e assemblato il materiale, ma mantenendo lo spirito estemporaneo della prima esecuzione.
Questo progetto rappresenta la terza opera scritta da Ruggieri (dopo Opera? - Vap105, Canto Di Natale - non pubblicato) con la medesima struttura. I testi nascono da un canovaccio indicato dall’autore, che può essere assunto seguendo un testo scritto, come nel caso presente, oppure improvvisato dall’attore in scena.
Il CD racconta la storia del mito italiano di Rodolfo Valentino e del tango (che ha definito il profilo artistico dell'attore) attraverso l'improvvisazione (elemento distintivo della poetica del Ruggieri). Le poesie recitate alla fine dei testi sono di Rodolfo Valentino. |
